Rendez-vous 2012 is being held at the Ottawa Hampton Inn Conference Centre on June 19, 2012 with a special focus on Wireless Broadband. What services are driving the demand? What are the options for future spectrum requirements in Canada? What are the socio-economic implications for Canada?

Theodore Rappaport, currently serves as the David Lee/Ernst Weber Chair of Electrical Engineering at NYU-Poly and holds professorships at NYU's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences and the NYU School of Medicine. Rappaport is a leading educator and entrepreneur who founded two well-known academic research programs at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and The University of Texas (UTA). He also launched two companies that were instrumental in the deployment of modern day cellular telephone networks.
Rappaport holds more than 100 patents and has authored numerous books, including the most popular textbook in the wireless engineering field. In 1990 at Virginia Tech, he founded the Mobile and Portable Radio Research Group (MPRG), a center that became a leading producer of research and young engineers for the booming cellular telephone industry. |

Bernard Lord is President and CEO of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association. He also serves as director and advisor for several corporate and non-profit organizations.
In June 1999, at the age of 33, he became one of Canada’s youngest premiers. He led the New Brunswick Progressive Conservative Party to one of its greatest victories and served as Premier until October 2006. In 2007, he joined McCarthy Tétrault, one of Canada’s largest and most respected law firms, as senior counsel.
Mr. Lord was chosen as one of Time magazine’s top 25 New Generation of Leaders in Canada, and was awarded the title of Grand Officier de l’Ordre de la Pleiade from the International Association of Francophone Parliamentarians. He was elected four times as the Member of the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly for the district of Moncton East.
Mr. Lord holds a Bachelor’s degree in social science with a major in economics, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in common law from the Université de Moncton. He also received honorary doctorate degrees from the University of New Brunswick, the Université de Moncton and St-Thomas University. |
